EDEN LAKE

This lake was once called the Garden of Eden Lake (as shown on the postcards below) but the name was later shortened to Eden Lake. A humourous account of the founding of the Garden of Eden Lake in Pictou County can be found at http://www.electricscotland.com/haggis/pictou.html. The actual naming of the lake, is attributed to William MacDonald, upon his arrival from Scotland in about 1830.

Addressed to Miss Florence Mulock, Mahone Bay, NS, the sender notes on the front of the card that "I'm looking for an Adam!!!" She then wrote the following message on the back. "Dear Florence, Just coming in from a ride to Westville to see Ada Cocks, who is now Mrs. Trites. I met Nell Connolly on the street today. She is married and has two children. Edith"

Style of the printed text along bottom front of card matches the text that is on PC# 0016 of A COOLING DRINK, WOODBURN, NS.
